DECISION SCIENCES INSTITUTE
Report of the
2009-10 Decision Sciences Journal of Innovative Education
Chetan Sankar, Editor
Please use a Capital letter (A, B, C, etc.) to indicate the recommendations regarding each
charge. Group the recommendations into “high impact, implement as soon as possible” and “moderate to low impact, implement when appropriate” categories. State your
recommendations in rank order as action items, as precisely as possible. To the extent
possible, please provide a cost estimate for implementation if appropriate and indicate who
should be responsible for implementation with an indicated timeline. Fewer, actionable
recommendations would help the Board bring about the recommended changes.
I. SPECIFIC RECOMMENDATIONS TO THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Charge 1: Work with the Strategic Planning for International Affairs Committee to
increase the internationalization of the DSJIE.
- Two Associate Editors from Australia & Korea has been appointed. Six others
from other countries have joined the Editorial Review Board.
Charge 2: Work with the Publications Committee to enhance the DSJIE.
- The backlog of articles have been reduced and now DSJIE has a policy of
publishing an accepted an article within an year.
- There is a critical need to increase the number of issues to four per year with
600 pages per year so that the citation index will improve for the journal. This
needs to be approved as early as possible.
Charge 3: Develop interdisciplinary platforms for special interest groups.
- Two special issues, one on qualitative research and another on ERP systems
have been announced.
- A Dean’s opinion on changes needed to be made in the Colleges of Business
curriculum due to the recent financial crisis was received well by the membership.
